PROPRIETOR ( CONSULTANT, SYSTEMS ANALYST & PROGRAMMER)
Established, marketed and managed a specialist computer services company,
initially providing hardware, software, consulting and user training services
(primarily with regard to Accounting packages such as ACCPAC) on single user
systems, progressing to small LANs (Novell, Lantastic, Windows for Workgroups).
Thereafter, a strategic decision was made to upgrade the focus of the business
to provide full Systems Development Life-cycle consulting (see Computer Skills
Inventory, above).
Major clients included:
* Arthur Andersen and their client companies
* The Municipality (Local Government), and Transnet (State Transport
Operation) (Tenders)
* A small retail supermarket chain
* A leading fashion design company (fashion design and sales)
* A commodity importing/trading company (rice)

As this experience was gained in a competitive environment, while undertaking
the B.Sc. Information Systems Degree through UNISA on a part-time basis, some of
the above consulting, systems analysis and solution implementation work included
working in irregular hours e.g., during weekends, vacations, public holidays
and at night.
The equipment used was always state-of-the-art (e.g., Compaq and Acer) and
solutions were provided in line with the client's budgetary parameters.
