Officially on 9/29. But, ... there are buts.

Often the stock will be listed for trading "when issued" -- meaning
that the when issued stock can be gtraded separately from the
pre-split stock. If XYZ has announced a 2:1 split, and XYZ trades
for $60 the stock listings will often carry a listing for XYZ-wi @
approx $30.

Second, even if you buy XYZ at the old price after the record date for the
split, you buy it with a "due bill" and your statement should state
that there is a due bill on the trade. A due bill announces conditions
attached to the trade which in this case is the stock split.
