I investigated the 30 DOW stocks today. I found that only C
(Citigroup) and GM (General Motors) were losing money. The price to
earnings ratios were low, with below 12 for most of the DOW. So why
are the stock markets crashing?
I suspect economic warfare funded by the extra trillion plus dollars
of profits taken in by OPEC nations during the past year. By short
selling at a modest loss, they have cut the stock prices for US
companies by 40%. They leveraged their oil money by a factor of ten
plus to hurt American's wealth as measured by stocks. The real estate
market crash also looks somewhat suspicious to me. What fundamental
change in demographics can cause a lessened demand for real estate?
Another possibility is that the US federal government found itself
unable to finance the national debt on favorable terms and caused the
stock market crashes to drive investors out of "risky" stocks to
"safe" government bonds. When the debt is monetized, the stock markets
and real estate markets will skyrocket as newly liquid funds seek
investment opportunities.
I do not buy the theory that banks are entirely at fault due to
mortgage backed security speculation. The irrational crash in the real
estate markets caused that policy to be a grave error. But what caused
the real estate crash itself? A leveling off and modest pullback are
rational. A crash is not rational at all. If I had money to invest
(which I do NOT) then I would buy real estate and stocks with a price
to earnings ratio below 12. I would sell any government bonds or other
debt obligations. SEE :
