Does the pending healthcare legislation in the Senate include a
provision that closes the Medicare drug plan's "doughnut hole"?

It includes a "discount" for that area. I can't explain what that
means, but feel free to read the text yourself at
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/F?c111:4:./temp/~c111ChQJ9g:e1090017:

It is important to remember that neither the Senate version nor the
House version is the *final* version - they have to be reconciled to
produce a bill that satisfies both branches. There is no telling what
the final version could include in this area.

My understanding is that Big Pharma will offer a 50% (of what) discount
while you are in the gap. If so those who currently pass thru the gap
will take twice as long passing thru. This is in return for continuing
the ban on imported drugs.

As bo beep noted nothing is final until the Prez signs the bill and then
CMS etc write the final rules no doubt being assisted by various
lobbyists.
