Best LCD for standrd cable?

Sorry if this is off topic, but this is one of the only newsgroups that
seemed even somewhat relevant.

I remember a couple of years ago I tried an LCD TV (about 23") with standard
cable and the picture was lousy.

Have LCD TVs improved in the last couple of years? Are any brands better
than others? Thanks.
