You can only nominate a 40 point occupation with a diploma or advanced
diploma. Are your relatives in a 'designated area' in Australia??
From DIMIA website
Skilled泡ustralian Sponsored Overseas Student
This category is for people with skills and who have a relative already
living in Australia who is willing to sponsor them.
To apply for this category you must:
meet the basic requirements;
nominate a 50 or 60 point skilled occupation from the Skilled Occupatio-
ns List*;
pass the points test;
have a sponsor (you or your spouse must be related to the sponsor);
have an assurer.
If your sponsor is not in a designated area you will need a degree or
trade certificate of some sort.

ThankS for reply
so in any case i will get only 40 points for my diploma...
my relative doesn't live in designated area.
so for australian sponsored studnent category i have to nominate 50 or
60 points occupation ? so that means i have to go for degree not diploma
or can i do a diploma which gives option of completing bachlors degree
after studying some more subjects?
You could also do a trade certificate of some sort, but you would have
to be sure that you could pass a skills assessment by the TRA.
When I was considering a diploma I found (in TAFE NSW anyway) that they
did some diplomas and advanced diplomas and had some sort of agreement
with some universities that would give up to 100% credit for units comp-
leted, being able to go straight into 3rd year of degree.
This is not a general rule and you could find yourself doing a 2
year diploma and only getting 1 years credit for it when you go to
University.
I'd speak to an agent if I was you, but personally I would go for a cou-
rse that gives you the best chance of residency at the end, if that is
indeed your main goal.
I'm doing a 3 year Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in accounti-
ng which will allow me to nominate 60 point occupation of accountant. I
have family in designated area, but I'm trying to widen my options and
chances of residency at the end.
thankx steve,
well i am also thinking to go for advance diploma in accounting from ta-
fe and than join bachelors after two years. that will give me 60 points
for my skills i guess.
