Define famous.
Entertainment figures only, or other realms?
For example, would Michel Foucault be considered "famous," although he's most well known to grad students and college professors?
Just wondering.

The obvious place to ask is the names project also known in various parts of the world as the AIDS quilt project. In case you don't know, they organise panels in memory of famous, named and anomymous people who died of AIDS and display it to raise awareness, etc. It's really impressive. They'll have a branch in your state if you don't like in too obscure a state, I should think. Or else try your local queentown (SF, NYC...)
