I don't think this is anything terribly new.

Generally okay although I am getting a total shoulder replacement in June.
My lifting days are pretty much done. (Which is one of the reasons I quit this group - too painful to read about it and not do it)

Spending my time working in a Harley dealership and playing guitar in a band.

How about you?

It's a discount mail site.
I have nothing to do with it but had to include it to post about the parachute.
Back in the very old days (mid 90s) we used to have quite a laugh with one of the regulars over his parachute training.

Doing OK although I have to watch my back. Not much lifting, been doing a
lot of snowboarding this winter, into kiteboarding in the summer. My son is
into freestyle snowboarding, he's doing some Parkour/flipping stuff at a
local gym. Same facilities/construction management stuff at work.

Yes, although I wouldn't call it my business. I did it at first just to
pay for the web hosting, and some months that's all it does, some months
it doesn't even do that, and some months I actually make some money from
it.

FWIW, their affiliate program doesn't pay for clicks or web page views
or anything like that, only purchases, so you can follow my links all
you like and it doesn't do anything for me unless you buy something.
See here for how it works:

http://www.dragondoor.com/our_difference/affiliate_program

NB: I am no longer in a leadership position in their program, having
moved to StrongFirst.com, Pavel's new company, instead, and I have no
affiliate relationship with StrongFirst (nor do I think they have such a
program).

Friedes' kb bidniss -- and all kb-based bidnesses -- "work" on the premise
that 99.99% of the consuming pubic have no knowledge of basic physics,

Then you can put a chafing handle on a cannonbal, give it magical medievil

got a bidniss.

Just got the word from the surgeon.
No over head lifting, ever.
Lightweight, by his standards, not mine, below the shoulder training.
No M/C riding for at least 2 months (that's half our summer dammit).
No guitar for 4-6 weeks.
Light duties at work after 4-6 weeks
regular duties after 10 weeks.

Maybe I'll hang out in the yard and get a good tan.

Hey Bob!

This from the Mann who gave me advice and helped me break 3 bills on the bench! Funny, I just popped on here after many years myself and saw your post. Jeez Bob, sorry to hear about the shoulder.

I think I was talking to you about my back last time I was on here. You gave me some names to check out. After a round of doctors and MRI etc, I stopped just short of getting the surgery to cut the squishy bits from the herniated discs. In desperation I cut out anything that involved spinal compression especially squats and deads.

The discs decompressed just enough to relieve pressure on spinal cord and the pain slowly went down over a period of a year or so. Now it has been maybe 7 years since I had one of those icepick in the spine episodes. I went back to doing super light deads, 1 plate max once a week and I think it has helped to strengthen the surrounding muscle again, back to the point where I think it helps support. I know I am not cured forever but so far not too bad.

That is a complete pisser about your shoulder though. Even no guitar, that is brutal. Can you attribute it mostly to any one thing in particular?

Dunno who else is still on here but hello to the good folks and go jump in the lake to the other kind. Y'all can just decide for yourselves which camp you're in.

Just might not wait another ten years to come back for another look.

None of these docs mentioned hanging? By either hands or feet? With a
proper regimen/protocol, you likely WILL be "cured" forever (cured =
"managed"), altho heavy lifting (back) will likely not be in the cards, but
likely more than "lite".

Hey Stephen, how's everything (else)?
Got the surgery done last Tuesday. Nice 22 staple zipper inches long. Not too much pain.
The no guitar is because they have to cut the tendon to get at the joint so no external rotation until it heals up.

I've been playing sort of 9th fret and higher until it aches.

Hanging worked for a while when it was more tendon than anything else. Now it was bone on bone, or more, arthritis on arthritis.
The problem with weights is that any real training puts stress on the anchor part of the prosthesis and eventually wears it out. The arm is too small of a bone to replace the prosthesis.

Sorry to hear about the shoulder problems Bob. I'm popping in today cos I just hit the gym for the first time in some years. First thing I see is some kid squatting in the Smiths machine and another one curling in the squat rack. No word of a lie. So I thought of you guys :-)
