OK-- the Wench of Little Brain needs some advice.

I will be repainting and doing some major stuff to my bedroom.. and one of
those things will have to be sanding down the woodwork to the windows, doors,
and baseboards.

Why am I bothering you all with this? Here's the problem...... my PC is in my
room. And I'm pretty sure that the paint dust will be not so good for the hard
drive, et cetra (I'm wearing a dust mask, fer crying out loud-- yes, I tested
the paint already, no lead). Should I bite the bullet, unhook the puter, and
move it out while I am doing this part of the job? This might take several
days.. and I can't really have the computer out where the ex might see it
(there's a few bumper stickers on there that he might take offense to). Or do
you think it might be ok, if I throw a plastic cover on it? What about an old
bedsheet?

There's no real way around not sanding the woodwork, cause I need to make sure
the new paint will stick to it.... and also I have a west window, where the sun
has dried out the paint, and it's now chipping off *sigh*

I'm also replacing the miniblinds in here.. and am considering putting up a
curtain, rather then having the current doors to the walk in closet. I'm also
going to be putting up shelves on one wall..... and also maybe over the
windows, for knick-knacks and books.

Colors-- yeah, I'm insane. Was at Home Depot, and saw that Glidden has a very
pale pink..... called Elizabethan *g* So that will be the color for the wood
trim, and possibly the ceiling. Walls are going to be painted a light
lavender-- Scottish Heather (again, a Glidden color). And the interior of the
closet, as well as some stenciling (sun, moon, stars..... I have a celestial
theme going on-- the kids room have a bunch of the glow in the dark stars and
planets on their ceiling-- with comets on the ceiling fan blades :D ) will be
in a darker lavendar-- Eternity. I will be painting a section of wall and
ceiling first, to see how everything looks, then I'll complete the room.... but
I can't do anything without knowing what to do with the computer first :(

An old sheet, doubled over a time or two, will do just fine....if, excuse
me, IF, the thing stays off. The real risk here is adhesive being sucked in,
coating all kinds of heat-sensitive parts, and making the machine bake itself
to death.

That should, of course, say "...adhesive -dust- being sucked in..."

I was thinking of doing my walls in that, and maybe getting a blue for the
stencils.... but I was voted down for it, as it was "too dark". but hey. I will
still use it *g* Glad to find a fellow lady with great color taste ;) (Ty? You
would *love* this color!)

Thank you thank you thank you!!!!! I figured I would want to keep it off, till
after I sanded, vacuumed, then washed everything..... but my main concern was
where I would have to have to store this thing. Another concern was.... well,
let's just say I don't want to have to find things jammed into the floppy or
Zip drives *sigh*

McCaf is right. Make sure your computer is unplugged, otherwise the
cooling fan will suck all kinds of crap into it.
There are sanders available you can buy/rent that have dust-catching
bags on 'em. Use one of these, if possible.
Also, if you place a box fan in the window, it will suck a lot of dust
out of the room.

Ok, no one's ever mistaken me for someone with color sense <eg> but I know what
I like, and just about any shade of lavender or purple is at the top of the
list (I do drive an eggplant, after all!).

It sounds beautiful Melis!
