WAG: need to use water in the prep and more CW in the kitchen means less
CW in the shower, which means the shower gets hot. Of course, if
hpjeannie's daughter uses an on-demand water heater or a
temperature-regulating shower valve, I have no idea.

Whenever it gets below freezing here (aka whenever the orange and
strawberry farmers do the "chicken sans head" thing), some people turn a
sprinkler on a house, tree, anything that'll make icicles. Most of the
precipitation here falls in the summer, so on any given summer day,
there's a decent chance it'll rain sometime between noon and 5. We
never see naturally-made ice otherwise, and that only half-counts.

The B.R. people quietly dropped their fill level from 20 lbs. to 15 in
the summer of 2008 when gasoline prices went through the roof. They
forgot to increase it again when prices went back down. The last tank I
bought had a tag on it which you could fill out and mail in for some
nominal refund, maybe $5 - there was a non-apology on the tag
explaining how even though they didn't do anything wrong they certainly
didn't want anyone to get the wrong impression about them. No
class-action lawsuits were mentioned.
