How many people did they kill?
1912 "It is known that only about three out of every one hundred
operated upon for appendicitis really have a diseased appendix
needing removal. We give below a simple cure for appendicitis
symptoms. The pain in the appendix region is caused by the
biting of worms near the junction of the transverse colon with
the small intestines, low down on the right side of the abdomen.
This remedy is recommended also for typhoid fever, which is also
a worm disease. The medicine is Santonine dose, 3 grains, an
hour before breakfast; repeated for four mornings, or until all
the symptoms disappear. Then one dose per month for three months
to eradicate all germs. This recipe is of INCALCULABLE VALUE.
Not only will it save the surgeon's and hospital fees of perhaps
$200, but it saves weeks of ill health, inconvenience,

I didn't even read past the first two lines of this post!
I wonder how much incorrect medical advice can be extracted from the 1900's
from more qualified medical organizations than the WTBTS!
In you humble opinion none other than this one? All that this proves is that
the WTBTS is wonderfully progressive on medical matters!

How do you know the medical advice in it is incorrect if you didn't even
read past the first two lines? You couldn't have gotten it from the
title either.
And with regard to the medical qualifications of the WTBS, last time I
checked they had none and never had any. But I guess the inspired word
of God goes a long way.

+++the very concept of writing an article to debunk medical theory of the
1912's, JW theory or otherwise is itself ludicrous. it is self evident that
much wrong medical advice was given in the 1900's, killing many and doesn't
even warrant mention or fiurther attention.

++++++ I have read many modern day medical articles by the JW's as well as
having knowledge of the past thinking on these matters and am confident that
whatever advice was givien in the article under discussion at that time,
would not be the same advice given today....hence progression.

You haven't actually answered the question: "How do you know the post
is great if you didn't read it?"
However, although much wrong medical advice was given in the 1900s
through ignorance, this isn't one of those instances. The JWs had no
reason to believe that "The pain in the appendix region is caused by
the biting of worms near the junction of the transverse colon with the
small intestines". Appendicitis was curable at that time by surgery,
and this was commonly known as the quote makes evident.

No. The article, if you had bothered to read it, made it quite clear
that it intended to dispute the medical thinking of the time.

It proves that whoever wrote the article, WTBTS or otherwise, was
prepared for people to die of appendicitis on his advice when the cure
for appendicitis was already quite clear.

Oh please. As it happens, a member of my family was brought up as a JW.
I've read the books, I've been subjected to the propaganda, I've
slammed the door in their faces...but mostly I've laughed. However,
I've also read their bizarre and arbitrary medical pronouncements, and
not much has changed since 1912.

## Although it's supposed to cost them their eternal bliss in the WTS's
paradise on earth they lie anyway. Very few JWs passed through here that
were honest. Only one so far has admitted the 1975 fiasco and remembered it
as non and ex JWs do. I wonder how many innocent people died because of
their quack advice. :-(
