There you will find the lesson plans that provide your family with
activities you can do at any time throughout the next five weeks. On
top of that, weekly activities coordinate with the theme of the week.
In addition, Worksheets are there for those of you who want them. And,
there's an overall Score Sheet so you can easily track which
activities you've done, which you want to do, and how many points each
of your students has earned. As a convenience, you can buy merchandise
with "Homeschoolers for Bush '04" on it instead of making your own
(the minimal proceeds go to paying for the web site). And, there are
comments and photos from those who participated in the study last
campaign.
Even though we don't know yet whether or not we'll get letters of
appreciation from the President's office like we did last time, this
is still such a useful study that the reward comes simply in the
learning AND fun that you and your kids will experience.
For those of you who are new to the program – let me assure you that
most of us who did it before had NO prior interest in politics. We
just did it as an easy, pre-planned way to help our kids see what the
presidential campaign was all about. Surprisingly, we found that we
learned more than they did. More importantly, we enjoyed it!

I've seen this posted several places recently. Out of curiosity, I
looked at the website and I also looked for any "Homeschoolers for
Kerry" groups. I didn't find any grassroots organization like that,
but I was pleasantly surprised at what I found at the above website.
There is a lot of heavyhanded pro-Bush stuff, as I expected, but
there's even more nonpartisan, good, solid projects that we're going
to be working on here at thistle-down acres. Here are some of the
projects I liked:
Complete the following by investigating the Federal Election
Commission website:
o What is the last day to register to vote in the November
election in your state?
o What are the voter registration qualifications in your
state?
o How can a person register to vote in your state?
o How many people in your state voted in 1996 and 2000?
o What percentage of registered voters in your state voted in
the 1996 and 2000 elections?
Research and list ten reasons Americans should vote
o Call your local talk radio station, tell them how old you
are, and read them the best three items on your list [We don't do much
talk radio, so I suggested that the girls write letters to the editor
on this
topic]

Read about the history of voting in America. Who was given the
right to vote in the founding of America, and how have changes been
made to allow others to vote throughout our nations history?

some links that will probably appeal to some and make others gnash
teeth (newsmaxdaily, Anne Coulter. Here are some links I thought

explain (orally or in writing), how it works, how it differs from
popular vote, and why it was established –
______ Make a list of your Government officials: national,
state, and local. Remember to pray for them by name daily
______ Study the U.S. Constitution's Bill of Rights. Write what
you understand them to mean in your life. How do those rights affect
you today? –
______ Write a summary of current articles found in the
newspaper or online news source having to do with the election,
issues, or candidates
______ Write a list of: When your state joined the United
States, what the population of your state is, how many Congressional
Districts it has, which district you are in, the name of your
Governor, U.S. Senators and U.S. Representatives

The above is only a small excerpt, there was plenty more worth doing,
and they post a new batch of assignments each week.
Just wanted to let y'all know that even if you are not a fan of
President Bush, you could spit out those seeds and find some good
ideas for studies during this election year.
