Anyone know the reason for this odd design for dishwasher water inlet?

I'm going through a Hotpoint dishwasher from the late 80's - model HDA
467-02WH and the water inlet fitting seems to have an odd design. The
nipple for the incoming water hose instead of being a tube, is this
half tube configuration - see attached pic. The rubber hose slides

Put lathe screws in the dimples of self-furring lathe?

Doing a stucco repair and using Home Depot self-furring lathe. It's my
understanding that ideally the lathe should be in the middle of the
stucco. It seems logical to me that the screws should go in the
dimples to leave the area between the dimples raised, which would seem
to be the whole reason for the dimples.... more »

Photo of the underside of an upside down 80's vintage dishwasher, pump
removed. Everything seems to be running fine but it's been leaving
crud and deposits on the dishes. Apparently a common culprit is debris
caught somewhere but it's not obvious to me where to look on this
