My wife and I are painting cupboards with a faux finish, and lost our
fancy schmancy sea sponge. Ideas for replacements? A crumpled up rag?
My car washing sponge?

Mark,

I believe they sell sea sponges in paint stores, and also in fancy
schmancy bath stores. Using a rag is an option, but would be called
'ragging' as opposed to 'sponging' and would give a different look - try
it on a test board. Your car sponge is most likely a synthetic sponge
and would have a different texture than a sea sponge - but you can
certainly test it to see how it looks. I think with faux painting,
anything goes, as long as you try it out first on a test board, and you
like the results.

Good luck,
Carol
