Hi! I just went to some open houses in expensive areas in Oklahoma and
was very impress with stencils and decorative painting by artists. How
can I find a good artist to paint in my new home? I asked the builders
if I could take pictures of those but they refused so I didn't want to
ask any info about the artist. Anyone know how the artist charges for
their work? By Hours? Please recommend.
Thank you very much.

Just so happens, I know of a decorative artist in OK. I'll email you the info
on how to contact this artist.

A couple more suggestions: The model homes were probably done by an
interior decorator. If you can find out who decorated, the decorator
might recommend an artist to you. Furniture stores sometimes have
contacts to artists too, because they work with the decorators. High
end furniture/accessory stores will be your best bet. Also check the
paint stores...some faux finish artists leave their business cards at
the good paint stores. I used to do this for a living but not since
moving to OK, and though some decorators won't share their resources,
some will. You might also consider doing it yourself. Lots of people
who aren't artists find they can do this! I have seen some wonderful
looking walls done by people who never painted before.

Thank you everyone very much. All above are good advices. My wife and
I love those faux paintings but don't know if we can afford someone to
do it. We might end up do the faux painting ourself. I think Home
Depot has a class for this. Well, need to drag my wife to HD with me
:)
For decorative painting, we will go to the sources as recommended.
Again, thank you all for your excellent ideas.

Don't be too sure about this. We hired an artist to come in and paint our
bathroom -- she spent most of a day, and still charged us less than $200.
