Minimizing one's footprint is a good start. Own nothing or next to
nothing, and have none or next to none legally traceable income. No
income, no ownership, no borrowing or debts, no ledgers to keep or
income taxes to pay. It's all right if others show income, ownership,
partnership, credits, debits, domestic or off-shore accounts, legal
liabilities or whatever. The key is keeping yourself out of the loop.

Break none of their laws. Avoid their big cities. Don't drive or
have a driver's license. Interact as little as possible with local,
city, state, or federal government.
Watch out!
Even Santa knows when you've been sleeping.
He knows when you're awake.
So, be good for goodness' sake?

There are ways to do it and it does not involve living in squalor and
owning nothing. You are doing it wrong.
