The men are happy because of the girls; the ladies and gays are happy
because they have rights and because they have men; the cyclists are
happy because they have respect; everybody is happy because they are
safe, etc, etc.

Perhaps the happiest of all will be the cyclists! I've been saying
that all along, and now it is confirmed...

"The five happiest countries in the world — Denmark, Finland, Norway,
Sweden and the Netherlands — are all clustered in the same region, and
all enjoy high levels of prosperity."

I'm so happy they did away with the oppressive underwear...

Usual utterly mindless line. The suicide rate in Finland is one of the highest in the entire world.

If you cant manage to grasp what that means happiness wise...

It must be the Christians because everybody else is happy.

But the Christians can only be happy when people is unhappy so it
fulfills the prophecies and people turn to God.

Actually I think all those suicide rates are a lie.

Or maybe they have a better life because religion is fading.

Here the taxes are lower, but they are totally squandered in wars and
contracts without ever solving anything.

There's a 1 mile long fancy mixed path around here (for riding bikes,
walking dogs, etc) that hasn't solved the problem that people must
ride bike on sidewalks to do errands. It is the owners of the dogs
that are happy with it and they are affluent. I've given up on
bureaucracies ever solving the problem in America without shaking the
tree. There's Big Black Hole that swallows everything.

I think our "pursuit of happiness" has become a Rat Race for survival,
and once that happens there's no happiness possible.

We must slow down and ride a bike or lay back in a hammock, not unlike

Finland has greatly reduced it's suicide rate because it developed
programmes to deal with and recognise depression. Finland's rates for
suicide are now on par with France and Australia and New Zealand and Canada.
When Finland experienced their great economic boom in the 1960s and 1970s
they forgot to deal with health care issues, amongst them mental health.
But they have since corrected that.

Countries such as Russia, Ukraine and Japan all lead Finland in suicides as
well as Estonia, and Latvia and Lithuania, who themselves are facing the
same economic growth pangs that Finland faced in the 60's and 70's.

No it hasnt. Its just reduced it a bit and its not quite as outrageous as it once was.

Still blows a damned great hole in the mindlessly silly happiness claim.

If they really were that happy, that wouldnt have been necessary.

Another pig ignorant lie, and if they really are one of the happiest
countrys, it would be much lower than those countrys anyway.

Have fun explaining why they had the highest suicide rate in the entire world.

Nope, ALL they have done is make the evidence that its nothing
like one of the happiest countrys in the world less visible.

Its completely stupid to be claiming that if you can stop those who
want to suicide from doing that, that those are anything like happy.

Its got nothing to do with economic growth pangs.

I've read that it has a lot to do with less daylight since most of
these countries are far north. Except for Japan, which has its own
problems.

You are using a pathetic excuse to deny the obvious (one I hear all
the time), which is that their system works for most people better. My
being denied space for my bike to the road in a safe manner, leads to
obesity and depression, which is a SLOW FORM OF SUICIDE. Of course,
our Medical Industry is there to save me and keep me breathing as long
as possible. No, we can't have Euthanasia either, so we must have long
agonizing death...

By the way, the leading country in happiness is Holland not Finland.
Or you can go to Costa Rica and chill on a hammock. Suicide is very
rare there. "Pura vida" is their motto.

The system cant be working that well for those who are depressed enough to kill themselves.

The other obvious way to avoid obesity is to not shovel so much shit into your mouth, stupid.

What kind of fad diet are you selling? There's no diet without the
capacity of BURNING THE CALORIES. We always have been hunter-
gatherers, and all of a sudden we found happiness in watching TV and
driving to the market.

No wonder America is #1 in obesity, right? I'm not even bothering with

Not selling any diet, fad or otherwise.

JUST rubbing your stupid nose in the FACT that if you dont shovel any more
calories into your mouth than you burn, you cant get fat, let alone obese, stupid.

What it looks like is that areas of long daylight or short daylight
could be problems. Of course, not having enough money to retire after

I approve the overall idea of a large chunk of the population riding
bike, but I do NOT approve of MIXED PATHS. Do they have mixed paths
all over? I don't think so.

So what is your solution? Mine is TAKE THE LANE and the let cars avoid

Doesnt explain the countrys that have a very high suicide rate amoungst younger people.

And quite a bit of the suicide rate amoungst the elderly is just people with
enough of a clue to kill themselves when they dont like the downsides of old
age. Its hardly surprising that plenty prefer to pull the plug on their lives instead
of having to have someone wipe your arse when you are bed ridden etc.

America is "Fast Food Nation," where happiness is doing nothing and
watching TV. Then the disease is exported to Mexico and England, but
the Dutch don't buy that.

They have all kinds of freedoms in Holland unknown to the American
Taliban. Freedom to ride a bike is one. Euthanasia another. Healthcare
for all. Prostitution too. Marijuana no problem...

We only have the name here, nice and big: DEMOCRACY, THE BEST MONEY
CAN BUY!

(Sorry to turn a little political, but everything is related in the
jungle. The subject is happiness and obesity in the Netherlands vs.
America, which is discussed in a religious forum. Yes, I believe they
are a big part of the problem)

That's exactly what we are going through now. The Christians supported
the war and now we are in big debt. All the basic services, like
hospitals and public transportation are cut down.

If they had taxed the fuel up front, we wouldn't be in this mess. It
is said, "the Democrats tax and the Republicans borrow," but nobody
messes with taxing gasoline.
