But how does it get there?

Bernie's secret money-orchard, of course. They tried to delay the
harvest for a few days to allow more ripening, but careful picking will
allow the not-yet-fully-ripe money to be picked later on.

Based on the published criteria I'll be lucky to get $10. That isn't a
problem particularly if it turns out like the last giveaway -- an
advance on your tax refund.

I've already gotten my tax refund, it went to pay 8 car notes. If and when
I get this stimulus check it will be used to pay the home owners insurance
premium. There will be a little left over to squirrel away.

I don't think I qualify for the stimulus check. If so, live off it I guess. Don't even have much in the way of bills other than the basics (rent). Without leaving the house, almost nothing going out.

Next year's refund. That's how it worked with one of the giveaways,
Bush's iirc. I don't know how it works this time around.

It's ironic. When Yang was pushing his $1000 UBI it was an off the wall
proposal by a dirty commie rat. Two months later...

I'm more concerned that what should be short term interest free loans to
businesses to cover current expenses turns into a complete giveaway.
Even that needs finer granularity. Mom's Diner is never going to make up
for being down for a month or more. Something like refrigerator sales,
for example, will take a temporary hit, but ultimately the product will
be purchased in the future.

Unfortunately, the lauded transition to a service economy means more
businesses will be in the first category. In one of those weird thoughts
that enter your mind in the middle of the night I wondered if barber
shops are an essential service. Will shaggy become fashionable? This
isn't a personal concern, having not been in one in decades. Nail
parlors? Now there is a non-essential industry in mnsho.

The same place all govt spending in excess of tax receipts and other income
comes from, the govt borrows it by issuing new govt securities. The fed
is aggressively injecting liquidity by buying bonds and other assets, so
they will wind up buying a lot of them. The fed creates this liquidity
by essentially printing new money. It's the right thing to do, the only
problem is that the fed created several trillion in new money to buy assets
starting in 2008 and they had only barely started to reverse that, now
they are again off to new record money creation, potentially 4 tril or more.
If that sounds like some kind of scam, maybe it is.
