My CenturyLink bill including DSL went up another $20 to $106 - DSL now
$80. Called CL for possible reduction but people incompetent. I'll have to
go back to dial-up. Don't watch TV so no cable.

Can anyone think of any options? Later will Google for local non-cable
broadband but don't have much hope.

TIA

available in your area?

Other than cable, as far as I know. In a little while will Google and
see.

You don't have buy television service to get cable internet. Just call them
and ask what it would run for just the broadband internet. We get 60 Mbps
for about $50 a month here--WAY better than DSL.

$40/month likewise "introductory" price which current customers have to
haggle to get and which needs to be re-haggled every year.

If you can deal with data caps and latency, Exede satellite is 10 gig for about
$60/mo, but if you go to bed late or rise early there is an unlimited free data
zone. Speed is decent +- 6meg down on average 1 meg up.

Forget dial-up. Almost all of the websites are now too bloated for it to work.

That's what gets me. I go from dial up to high speed and the websites take up all the improvement with cookies and banners and popups and ads that stalk me everywhere. It's like I am subsidizing their abuse. The banks, credit card companies, and paperless bill paid vendors all benefit, but I find myself playing solitaire waiting for a page to load just like the 'good' old days.

You don't say what "high speed" service you have and IDK what your
definition of "high speed" is, but if you're waiting for pages to load like that
sounds like it's not really high speed. I have cable, it's probably
~20MBit/sec. Even on wifi at the other end of the house I get 12 MBits
on my phone. That's just the standard offering, they have 50 and 100
if you want to pay extra. No waiting for pages here and I don't think
my experience is unusual. If you're on DSL with a long poor quality
line, then you could have a connection that's only a few hundred K.
Or something is wrong. Just saying.....

One ad I saw for Suddenlink claimed $39 mo. for just internet.
but you try to get it and you get the bait n switch. B.S.
and two phone #'s were disconnected.

yr. and they didn't return my call. da bum's rush ????
