Anyone have opinions on the tempur-pedic mattresses? I'm considering
buying one but I wonder:
Can you use it as effectively on a platform bed as on the special
boxspring they promote
How pricey do you have to go to get a really good one
I DO know that the warranty with this item is tricky- has a few loopholes
- for example, if the mattress has any liquid spilled on it at all, the
warranty is totally nullified.

I've had one for about 3 years now. My wife & I both like it a lot. Motion is
not transmitted across the mattress like with innerspring types, and it remains
very comfortable with no sign of sagging.

I don't know the current pricing. More regular and discount mattress stores are
carrying them now, so you should be able to get some good deals. Of the 3 price
levels of the Tempurpedic that were available when we bought, the middle one
suited us best.

Don't know about your interpretation of the warranty... I don't recall anything
like that.

I've had mine about five years and my back feels much better since! I
also have the feature that allows you to adjust its positions, which is
nice like now-sitting in bed with the laptop while watching TV. Mine is
a king sized, and cost just under 5K.

I have had mine for 8 years and love it. It is excellent in several ways.
It is hypo-allergenic, impervious to water, insects (like mites) or sagging.
It is as flat today as the day I got it. The adjustable feature is
wonderful, and I can tilt the back or knees to any position I find
comfortable. Mine is a queen size and I paid $2500. Considering what I
paid for other mattresses in the past and how saggy they got in a short
time, this was actually a very frugal choice.

I haven't noticed it.

The biggest known "problem" is that when they're cold, they get stiff. If you
have an unheated bedroom, it will take a while for your body heat to warm the
foam enough so it is responsive. I keep my bedroom about 65 F, and that temp is
no problem.

I have heard that story about them being hot too. I keep a quilted
mattress pad on it, and it probably provides a bit of breathing space which
could prevent it from being too hot. I have never slept on it without the
mattress pad, so you should consider my experience with that in mind.

My daughter lives in Texas and you know it gets really hot there. Her
Tempurpedic isn't too hot for her either. The foam is dense and firm when
you first lay down, but it gets softer as you lay on it and the body heat
helps it to form to your shape. Both my son and stepson own memory foam
mattresses and feel the same way as I do, though stepson bought a CLONE of
the tempurpedic in Sam's club for only $500 and he loves it just the same.

I absolutely love mine, and when you consider how many mattresses I have
owned over the years that are all in the dump, having gotten sagged in the
middle or just plain old and funky..... this is definitely a good buy and a
frugal choice in the big picture. I would not only do it again, I would
have done it a lot sooner!

Yes, but once it warms to your body it is amazingly comfortable!
