Is this pretty much the going price for cottage cheese these days? In my
mind, I must have trained myself to look for a price of $2 or less - and
anything more seems overpriced.
Then again, I couldn't find chicken drumsticks for under $1.60 a pound
last weekend, and up until last year I could always find bulk packs of those
for 79c a pound. Evidently I'm going to have to get used to paying twice as
much if I want them. (still a better deal than Church's Chicken, Popeye's or
Kentucky Fried)
This morning's circular here (Shaw's in RI) shows chicken legs,
drumsticks, thighs or whole chicken next week for 99 cents/lb, so it's
still possible to be >$1.
This past week, I picked up split chicken breast for $0.99 / lb at
another grocer (3 lb minimum packs).
Opps <$1.
I don't know if they are available in all stores, but the Walmart by us
sells a ten pound bag of leg quarters(leg and thigh attached) for 58 a
pound up from 47 a pound six months ago.

Milk products tend to be regulated by the government, there's a
minimum/maximum price from what I recall.
Thanks, Curly! Do you know if this is the every day price, or just a sale
price? If it is their regular price, then I guess I should make a trip to
Wal-Mart and stock up the freezer.
Deans cottage cheese is $2.99 for 24 ounces in a local supermarket.
