Some lists have a higher toleration for abuse than others.

Also, there is Craigslist, www.craigslist.org, which has a free section.
Which one is better will depend on your local community.

Hint: You can set Yahoogroups mailing lists to not get mail and read
them on the web.

Er, get a better mailer. One that allows you to presort incoming mail
into different folders. Pan, thunderbird, etc

Yahoo allows you to do that.

I have all my Freecyle Groups
Manhattan
Queens
Brooklyn
msgs go into a
Freecycle folder.

Then I sort alphabetically.
makes it real easy.
