Plastics are made from oil. Nobody is scavenging plastics just yet. If
you are an entrepreneur, now is your chance to become a plastics
exporter.

I wonder at what price point for oil will thieves start ripping
plastic plumbing out of houses...

yeah- I was actually ah jus kidding. Quite a bit of activity with
the metals, though. NYTimes ran story last week of leaded roofs being
ripped off old churches in UK. I guess at least the old car batteries
will get dragged out of the woods, etc.

That was obvious.

Not really.

Fuck all old churches there have had that happen to them.

Because the verger beats the culprits to death with those things they whack on the doors with.

Nope, there isnt enough lead in them to bother.

All you need is to convince people that something is scarce. Then you
need to create a fake market for it. A ponzi scheme of self-
replicating endurance follows. I am not sure how plastics could be
spun as a scarce resource when we see it litter the highways, but that
would not stop someone who wanted to dupe people used to bubble run-
ups in prices of anything from Beanie Babies to photos of newborn
babies.

There was no need to bother with plastics, the volume alone made that viable a long time ago.

Nope, thats not how the scavenging market works.

No one said they were. Neither are cans and glass bottles.

Or just realise that there is a market for salvaged plastic, cans, bottles etc.
