Hello, Student Activists & Student Groups-
My name is Nik Obriecht and I am a senior at American
University and the Student Organizer for the April
Mobilization, which will include the demonstrations
against the World Bank and IMF and their policies and the
Latin American Solidarity Conference.
Students have formed an integral part of the
anti/alternative-globalization movement and we hope to
continue this trend this spring in Washington DC. The
Third Annual Latin American Solidarity Conference
(www.lasolidarity.org) will be held on Friday the 11th and
Saturday the 12th and will feature teach-ins, discussions
and workshops on a wide range of Latin American issues and
I would like to call for a student caucus at the
Conference.
I feel that it would be helpful for us, as students, to
partake in a caucus in which we could discuss our role as
activists on campuses across the US and around the world
and I would like to call on as many of you as possible to
partake in this.
If you are interested please contact me and we can start a
discourse on various ideas and questions you might have
about this.
Following the Conference will be the march and
demonstration against the World Bank and the IMF. This
will take place on Sunday and will feature the march as
well as street theatre and perhaps other forms of
autonomous activism.
I know that most of us are very busy with peace groups and
I hope that the call for global peace will continue with a
large turnout for the Conference and demonstrations in DC
in April. If I can be of any help please contact me

In the meantime, start organizing rides and maybe even
organize an info session on neoliberalism and the World
Bank and IMF on your campus. Hope to see you all in DC in
April!
