March of his Four
Friday 28th - July
From bea...@sindominio.net / Translated @ Kebele KP

About how the “March of his 4” became the excuse
to target 50.000 people and about the
other obscure “demonstrators”.

Following an account about the sad events of the
28th July, Peru’s “Independence” Day and
the investidure of the nazi Fujimori, called by
him and his followers “ The Third Fujimorato”,
and how Toledo and Fujimori took advantage of
the people for their own dirty interest.

From early in the morning the demonstrators
began marches in a peaceful way towards the
Government Palace and the Republic Congress
to complain for Fujimori’s illegal self-investiture
for his consecutive third government. In this
peculiar farce, the dictator Fujimori swear to
himself while the opposition congressmen
withdrew insulting and protesting against the act (in
fact this opposition is like a bunch of clowns:
left and right will never be bought?).

A huge police operation stopped and dispersed them
by using gases. The tear gas shots were
done at random and right to the bodies of the
demonstrators themselves. The first
demonstrators started falling and some of
them were transported to a nearby hospital. In that
very moment the “Te Deum” mass was happening, the
classic patriotic celebration where the
Archbishop of Lima who belongs to the Opus Dei
(powerful fundamentalist elitist catholic
branch. (AN)) wanted to thank the Industry
minister. At the end of the mass Fujimori and his
“court” felt the effects of the tear gas thrown in
the surroundings because some demonstrators
had managed to cross the police cordon.

Afterwards they continued towards the congress
to do his self-swearing. However from the
first hours, there was confrontation between
the demonstrators and the police. For this
occasion the government used 40.000 coppers
(90.000 were ready for the action) to stop 50.000
demonstrators plus delegations from all over
Lima with non-movement order. We have to
mention that the police purchased 12 tones of
tear-gas bombs to go ahead with their repressive
action. The first confrontation happened at 10
am when a group of demonstrators tried to
accede the Government Palace from Lampa road.
The confrontation spread through the centre
of Lima where the demonstration pickets tried
to overcome the strong police cordon to reach
the Congress and the Main Square. At that time
Lima’s air was completely unbreathable. The
mayor incidents started when a group of “demonstrators”
(supposedly infiltrators of the SIN -
National Intelligence Service) set fire to the Justice
Palace in the General Archive. It’s very
strange the delay of the police to arrive to the fire
as the Cotabambas police station is located
right behind the Palace and it’s known that the
police registers any incident from the CCTV
cameras and even one television station (one of
the many under-control of the government)
was broadcasting live the incident. Immediately
and in simultaneous way there were fires at the
National Election Jury, where, funny enough, all
the impugnations against Fujimori’s illegal
candidature were kept, the Social Ministry which
resulted destroyed and the National Bank
where 6 workers of a private security company were
calcined. In total, there were reported more
than 10 fires in the centre of Lima. The interesting
thing is that the fire brigade also arrived very
late to extinguish the fires, as apparently they
were stopped by demonstrators. These peculiar
demonstrators had painted faces and handled guns.
It was quite obvious for everyone that
they were infiltrators too. These fires started
after a withdrawal of the security forces allowing
the access to people who separated themselves from
the main march and with suspicious
ability set fire to different premises without any
police reaction. The withdrawal was seen as a
police strategy as meanwhile they were placed in the
roofs witnessing the demonstrators
trashing the place. We have to point out that if the
police wanted they could prevent the tragic
events because it wouldn’t be very difficult to
disperse the demonstrators. Compan~eros who
were demonstrating by the Government Palace pointed
that all the sudden there were bombs
pouring over them. They were shot from the roofs.
After minute and a half there was no one in
the Main Square. Why weren’t the demonstrators who
caused the fires been dispersed if they
were within the perimeter under police control? The
National Bank building ended collapsing
and calcining 6 guards who didn’t manage to run away
because they were locked up in their
office inside the bank. Still one of the bodies is
missing.

Another one of the methods was to leave without
protection, for instance, the Main Square
and so people entered and once there they were
bombed tear and vomiting gas from the roofs.
Due to the protest and the brutal repression the
government swearing of Fujimori’s fascist
team couldn’t happen.

Once the demonstrators were dispersed, in the evening,
the government blamed the organizers
(Toledo and his left/right party) of the “His 4’s
march”. However the presence of infiltrators
was evident. One of them was spotted by some
demonstrators right in the San Square
confrontation taking photos of the riot. The
demonstrators asked him for accreditation and he
said he didn’t have one and that he was just
walking by. Among his documentation they
found a Peru Air Force card. Later on, on the
confusion of the gases he vanished with some
very dodgy geezers - plain clothes - who were
calling him. Until now, there have been 4 cases
of infiltration detected in different places of
the city. And even in one of the cases a plain-cloth
copper, after being spotted, threatened the
demonstrators with his gun. as a result 400 people
were injured, among them youngsters and elders,
and more than 200 arrested. Six people died.
While we write this report we don’t know anything
about demonstrations elsewhere in the
country. Along the day there was no information
whatsoever (either radio or TV).

Toledo, who called for the “March of his 4”, has
declared that the protest will carry on till the
“Chinese” falls, what predicts new demos that
Toledo will use as platform for his new party
and excuse for the consolidation of Fujimori’s
fascist regime which seems to have already
started a brutal witch-hunt against the organizers
of the march (who have an excellent time in
very posh hotels) but that is thought it can
extend to any other section of the spontaneous
opposition, as the majority isn’t neither with
Toledo nor with Fujimori.

We’ll keep you inform you about the next developments
