Dear Dirk,

Instead of offending many years of hard work, endless lines of code,
several master thesis, a lot of publications and a working operating
system only to get some attention, why don't you try the minix3 wiki
(http://wiki.minix3.org/en/), or even the documentation provided on the
web site (http://www.minix3.org/doc/)?

On those pages you have a lot of informations concerning installation
and usage of minix3.

In the previous mail you mentioned GUI, yes minix3, has an X server
implementation and you can install it using packman
(http://wiki.minix3.org/en/UsersGuide/InstallingBinaryPackages).
Unfortunately there is no GUI for the minix3 OS installation.

Greetings,
Alen

Hi Alen

I understand the huge amount of effort put in by Andy and other developers.

As per the Minix3 goals, Minix is targeted at the Embedded systems
and as per the philosophy of Minix as opposed to Monolithic systems
like Linux,BSD, Minix seems to be the best on Embedded.

I am working on Arm7 and Arm9 embedded devices, presently on Linux. Is
there a decent port to Arm processors? If not is there a game plan to
start porting ?

regards

Nataraj

Hi Nataraj
Well the current port of the MINIX to ARM is done by Maurits
Dijkstra . you can get his mail id from this page
http://www.minix3.org/who_doing_what.html

i have one thing to add .... the greatest advantage of open source
project is the flexibility it provides you ... you have the source
code and you are free to do the required things by yourself.

All the people in open source have put a lot of effort into
it .Please stop complaining and start contributing .

A simple search within this group would have given
proper results regarding ARM port.
