Good evening to all at least in in the Midwest US.

My students have found a glitch in Minecraftedu and I am not sure if it has been shared or not.

It is to duplicate your items over and over again.

Step 1: Log in as your self.      Example:  MrC

Step 2: Open a new game

Step 3: Log in as yourself but do not capitalize a letter. Example: Mrc

You will now have to avatars on screen.

Step 4: Press Q to drop an item to your other avatar.

Step 5: Repeat

I just found out about it and having thought about how to stop it from happening.

Ideas?

Have a good day and I look forward to responses.

Thanks for letting us know about this.  I've put it into our bug tracker.  Hopefully we can fix it in the next update.

I'm not sure I understand.  I just tried it and I can only pass things back and forth but they don't duplicate or grow in number.  What am I missing?

Hahaha, the trick is (I couldn't understand until Joel explained it to me)

Joel logs in, picks up an item

then either on a second computer or the same, "joel" logs in

joel is in the same spot, carrying the same items as Joel

so he can just drop everything and log off

Joel then has double items

So feel free to duplicate all your awesome stuff on the educrew server Matt :D

Elfie.

But when I logged in as "matt" I didn't have the same items as "Matt".  That's where I'm confused.

The only "bug" is actually in the algorithm that checks for a duplicate name when a player logs in.  It should not be case-sensitive.

Maybe only after the map has been saved?

Was this on a fresh server/map?  I don't think the server actually saves your items until you log out.  So if you just logged in to a new world, picked something up, then logged in again it probably wouldn't work.

Yep, that was it.  I used a fresh map that wasn't saved the first time.  When I loaded up an older map, it happened.  Got it now!
