Hi My name is Kyle I am not a member but I was advised to post about the help I am looking for. I have something that I need printed in 3d (it is not large, just a bit complex) for a current project I am working on and was wondering if anyone would be willing to help? If you would be please let me know. I am willing to talk about compensation for your time too.

Thank you

Bring your STL file to the meeting tonight, and we can try running it on
the Stratasys!

Hi Kyle,

Do you have your object designed already? (And a file in a compatible format?)

If you just need something printed, I might be willing to give it a shot.

I would enjoy that but I have just been called out of the country. I am leaving for Morocco and will not be back until the end of May :/ is there a chance I can come down when I return? I will be back the 22nd so how about the following Tuesday?

I've never converted a .dwg file to an .stl file...

But if you feel like sharing the file, I'll see what I can do.

(I always love a good file conversion challenge!)

dwg is a 2d format.  stl is a 3d format.  I have never attempted to do the conversion but I believe that you can accomplish it by importing the dwg into a 3d modeling program and extruding it to give it some height.  I believe that openscad has this ability.

DWG is 2D? Ah, can you export as something else? DXF, SVG, EPS? I can work with those to extrude in OpenSCAD.

Are you trying to extrude a .dwg profile into a 3D object?  I can certainly take a crack at it in SolidWorks.

I was thinking of dxf.  Wikipedia claims that dwg is AutoCAD's file format and it can be 2d or 3d.  I don't know how to convert that since it is a proprietary format.

I did get it and responded to the list - your .dwg is in fact 3D, but it's a wireframe.  Can you solidify it somehow?

I was looking at how to render it I might be able to have someone do it for me, unless you can make it into a solid that would work. it is just for a rough mock up.

If you can create a dimensioned print, I can certainly whip up a solid model and STL.
