Anyone have some dead old-school camcorders? I'm looking to scavenge some of the CRT pieces from the viewfinders.

Are you looking for the tiny CRT tubes?
Most of the ones in the last 10 years have been LCDs.
I can look around at work and see what we have.

I've got a FLIP that I'll leave at the space the next time I get there.  Although I don't know when that will be.

If you want LCD displays, not CRTs, there's a few boxes full of them on the shelf in the back corner of the library.  There are the fixed character type (you know, 2 lines of 16 characters, etc.) and it looked like some might be color video type displays.

I was looking for actual CRT tubes and the controller cards, not LCD's or two line displays. I have a project in mind where I need the tiny TV tubes form old school camcorders like these:

Those are getting rather rare, I haven't seen a tube type camcorder in over 2 years.  I'll keep an eye out.  How many do you need?

What do you need them for?

Tom

P.S. I did see a Sony Watchman with the 3" TV tube that bounced the electron beam to the screen a few months ago.

Those round CRT tubes with the right feed would make perfect expressive eyes for a robot sculpture.

I think I have one of the viewfinders, its off a JVC Camcorder.

Who wants to play with it?

I'll bring it to the meeting tonight.

The viewfinder is sitting on the desk I use, if it doesn't disappear before the move it will go in the recycle box.

I was going to grab it, but it looked like you were taking it apart to poke at it. I didn't want to grab it until you were done, then w left and I forgot about it. I'll snag it tonight.

I grabbed 2 more viewfinders today, they'll be on the desk I use at Chase.  The magnifying lens from the last one is still there as well.
