I'm looking for a free (or low cost) AC motor for a project to motorize a grain mill.  Here is an article that shows what I'm trying to do - - - > http://www.byo.com/component/resource/article/1171-motorize-your-grain-mill-projects

1/3 - 1/2 HP, 1750 RPM, with a clockwise rotating shaft (or one that can easily be reversed if necessary).  I'm a homebrewer and this mill would used to crush my brewing grains on brew day.  I live right down the street from the Makerspace location and I've been interested in what you guys do, but my brewing really consumes all my free time.

I thought this group might have a motor you'd be willing to part with or could at least give me some advice on where I can pick one up cheap.  I've looked on Craigslist and eBay, but I can't find what I'm looking for, or they are asking more than I want to spend.

I'd be willing to exchange a couple bombers of expertly crafted homebrew for the motor.  I'd also be willing to teach anyone interested how to brew.  I brew on a 15 gallon all grain RIMS (Recirculating Infusion Mash System) system and brew all kinds of styles.  I've won multiple awards for my brew, so you can be assured anything I give you will not be swill.  I take pride in my brewing and wouldn't give away anything sub-standard.

Looking forward to seeing your responses.  Cheers!  Ken

Thanks, let me know what you come up with.  This project has been dogging me and I'd like to check it off my list.  Appreciate you taking the time to look.  Ken.

Mark - I think I can make this work.  The goal will be to reduce the speed of the mill to ~200 RPM and I can't go any bigger than a 10" pulley on the mill due to space restrictions within my setup.  Do you know the direction the shaft rotates, cw or ccw?  I need it to be clockwise (again due to the way my setup is configured) and if it's ccw, can it easily be reversed?  Thanks again for taking the time.  If this is a go, should we arrange to meet at Maker Space or ??  Ken.

Sure, that works.  I'll stop by between 6 and 9.  I'll be the guy that looks like he's lost.

Thanks again Matt.  I'll let you know if one of these works out.  I really appreciate it.  Let me know what you think of the beer.  The Pumpkin and the Chai Milk Stout were just bottled.   The Weiss is a bit older, but I imagine it should still be in good condition.  The American Brown (unlabeled bottle) was bottled in August and should be in good shape.  Ken.
