Do we have 6mil plastic at the space, and can the 60watt reasonably cut it?

I need to cut some 6mm plastic, and am happy to go get a sheet if we don't have it but the bigger question is can the 60 reasonably cut it?

With a couple of passes, I know it'll cut 5mil, so it's a distinct
possibility.

Just triple check the focus to make sure it'll cut as deep as possible
on each pass.

The 60 should be able to cut it, but you will see a pretty serious
kerf on the cut. Be aware of this as it could affect the size of your
pieces.

I have cut 6mm acrylic with 3-4 passes.  Yes, there's a bit of a V-shaped kerf.  If you try to go too slow (slower than about 8% speed in my case) you get significant burning/melting of the top edge.  It may work better now that we have the air assist, though.

I bought a bunch of scrap plastic from Midland Plastics a month or two ago.  It's leaning against the side of the rack next to the hand tool rack, and it's up for grabs for anyone to use.  There are various thicknesses, colors and types, including some sweet fluorescent orange 6mm acrylic.

Found a nice sheet of yellow I'm going to try. A test cut at 100% at .7% speed with air assist cuts beautifully. Air assist is the greatest thing since sliced bread. No burning or melting on the edges. It's like a 200% difference from all prior cutting experiences with air-assist off.

If this comes out it'll be a laser cut Tantillus case. I'm also printing one and am going to try and do one in wood before Dec 14th when I have my presentation on 3d printing to give.

So I had to drop it to .5% movement from .7 but dear Lord that's a faaaaantastic cut.
