I was using the laser cutter tonight. I noticed that the vent draft was rather weak. That led me to check the exhaust tube. It was crimped, able to let through very little air. I reached behind the machine and straighten the tube, allowing more air through and improving the draft in the machine.

Check the tube before you use it.

Yes. Before I adjusted it the smoke from was slowly drifting towards the back of the machine. After I adjusted it the smoke moved much faster.

Also, check to see if the slider on the right side is opened all the way, and the one on the left is closed all the way.

Yeah, Adam and I noted some problems with the hose clamp on side of the tee where the cutter duct meets up at the slide gate damper.  There's a new hose clamp on there now so it should be secure, but the flexible duct is a bit unwieldy.  Thanks for the heads up Eric!

The exhaust draft was really weak tonight, so a couple of members mostly Chris, vacuumed  and generally cleaned out the whole exhaust system.  I checked upstairs and there seemed to be pretty good "air" movement.  We tried a few variations, but settled on switching the pipes and using [Forward] instead of [Reverse] on the exhaust controller.  That was an improvement.  I can't remember why it was set up to use reverse.  If you are ok with the change, we have to remember to use forward.  If there was an inherent or intrinsic reason for using reverse it needs to be switched back.

The blower works in both directions but better in its designed rotation direction.

There is an arrow on the body of the blower showing the correct direction of rotation, checking that would be ideal, otherwise just run it what ever way it works best.
