Starting to look at gathering the parts for the eventual 4'x8' CNC router. If I can design this right my hope is to allow for both routing and a plasma cutting head if we need it. The gantry will have to be fairly beefy hence the need for 34's if we are going to swing hardcore. I'd like to avoid going to cncrouterparts or some place.. $360 bucks just for 3 960oz-in steppers plus another $420 for the drivers is harsh as that would be $780 out of my $1200 already.

I bought the steppers for my 2x3 router from Keling:

Not as cheap as scrounging, but cheaper than cncrouterparts.

There's a tape library machine on my pallet that contains at least two NEMA 34 200 steps per rev motors.  Feel free to helpyerself to them and any other parts (belts, pulleys, guide rails, power supplies, etc.).

Ed,

did you ever grab those motors out of the tape library machine?

I didn't. It was up on the shelf, Ron and I debated using the forklift, but until I get the other pieces together - I thought it was a lot of drama, and assuming they aren't going anywhere they are safe enough in the library. Work / Kids / School has slowed my makerness recently, I've just had my max to keep me warm at night.
