Wanna show the country that the motorcycle culture in Milwaukee is more than just Harley-Davidson? Now's your chance.

Producers from The TODAY Show will be at the hotel for this week's Bike Night. They'll be in town to cover the Milwaukee Rally and want interview tim Dixon about what it would mean to Milwaukee if H-D closes it's plant here. Tim told them Milwaukee embraces all kinds of bikes and talked them into covering our Bike Night as well as the museum's. So... no reserved spots, all first-come first-serve but if we want to show a selection of vintage bikes, cafe racers, BMWs, Ducatis, customs, etc get there early to fill the lot.

And thanks for an amazing turnout last Thursday!

Godffery and I were talking about this yesterday at the Sly Fox ... there's been lots of chatter about restricted parking and such ("Keep the hogs out, let the cool bikes in". That's a pretty easy issue to solve, and Brigette already mentioned the solution.

GET THERE EARLIER. If we want a strong showing, let's roll in before the baggers, and claim our space. Simple as that. Thursday sounds like it's gonna be a treat, so let's make the most of it. Brigette, what time Thursday will you be switching over to "bike parking only" in the front lot? I say we show up, all in our MilVin shirts, within half an hour of that time, and get the prime real estate.

The cones will go out at 3pm on the street (east of the hotel on Florida) even though parking is restricted to Bikes Only from 5pm-midnight – but that keeps people from missing the signs, parking cars and then getting tickets. I will also put out cones in the spot closest to The Yard area (like last week).  I am personally going to do this. The valets are not hotel employees – a contracted service only. So this can lead to awkward situations. They are good guys but struggle when it comes to the bikes at times.

Speaking of which, I think we need a “bike bouncer” for next year – someone who can direct traffic, help maximize the number of bikes in the lot, keep some reserved for hotel guests and shut down the lot to cars and even bikes eventually once it’s full. If anyone is interested in such a job for next June–September (perhaps part cash/part bar tab) lemme know.

This is slightly off topic, but as far as the preferred apparel for Thursday night, are any of the latest Mil Vin Moto shirts still available out there?  Large or extra large.  I already screwed up the one I picked up at Rockerbox. (do you make carbonfiber Mil Vin Moto bibs?)  Who do I bribe, blackmail, coerce or otherwise contact for a spare?

I’m with you man – I’ll be there by at least 5.

 

I was at the I. H. last night with Darci, T T Tim, Jeff B and Brad B; we were discussing options for getting as many vintage bikes there as possible and as early as possible, like (for those that work or live in town) bringing our bikes there during lunch brake then leaving them and get a ride back from a coworker, or (many of us have mutable bikes) we bring an extra bike out any way we can, even if that means we drop it off the night before then ride in with one of our other bikes Thursday.?!  Or… (_____)?  Fill in the blank.

 

BTW Brigette; have you contacted other local groups like the BBC and WADE? So we can really be sure to out number the Neon lit, chrome clad tractors!

I cannot imagine any BSA or Meridian Triumph not qualifying as
vintage............

And the last Beeza's came off the production lines in 1972, and the last
Meridians in 1983

38 and 27 years ago respectively..................... Interestingly the
Hinckley Triumph twins seem to be 'accepted' in the vintage category,
even having their own class on the Road America race card!

I will not be at IH tomorrow either........... I'm off to the Davenport swapmeet & races, leaving tomorrow, returning Sat evening.

 

I will not be at IH next week either, I will be leaving for China on Tuesday, returning 24th (maybe)  :-{

 

However, if I could put a reserve on a T Shirt, size XL and a couple of stickers, I would very much appreciate it. I could send you a check, pay by PayPal, send out a courier, leave my arm and a leg as security........... Whatever works. We could arrange a pick up later.

 

I did buy a T at Rockerbox and wrecked it the second time I wore it........... It makes a great painting shirt now!

 

Let me know what works or where to mail my check.

I stopped by Iron Horse at 4:45, and it was all cars in the parking lot.  Came by again now (7:00) and there are still more cars than bikes out front, so I'm going to the Harley Musuem instead.

I'm greedy, so I attended both ... great hospitality at both locations, thanks to Brigette and Joey. Sitting on the patio chatting and watching the sunset was great. Streaking west on I-94 into a bank of black clouds was exciting, and pulling into the parking lot full of bikes at Joey's house was a relief!
