I'm Andy Anderson, Computer Science graduate of the University of Mississippi, working for a small defense contractor in Saint Petersburg, FL for a bit over 5 years now.

I'm interested in all aspects of software development and the successful Open Source Software models, as well as seeing the US DoD take advantage of and support open source software when applicable, feasible, and practical.
- mil-oss needs
I'm just interested in learning what is going on with the Military Open Source front and this group was recommended by a co-worker, Harley Garrett

Management System for VA. Got a Masters in CS and have been working
for DOD Projects for about 7 years now.

The idea of Open source always captured my interest. I have used many
Open source tools through my 7 years in Software Engineering and
looking forward to continue the usage of such tools..

Open Source: is the Blood Line to all Projects and their success. I am
very interested in Open Source community and its tools.

Hi everyone,
My name is Bobby Lansing, I am a flyer and a lightweight programmer
with VBA and C++ code. I joined the group because of the connection to
FalconView, which is an excellent program, and I am interested in how
I can get involved in its further development. Honestly, listening to
the conversations, I'm not sure I am in the right place because these
conversations are way over my head as a simple ATO parsing programmer.
Again not sure if this is the right crowd, but definitely interesting
in working with TaskView. I have no needs and don't really need help
as of yet, just interested in the community.

As with most open source development, I'd suggest directly contacting
their developer community. At a quick glance, it looks like a lot of
their development discussions are accessible through their online Trac
forums: http://www.falconview.org/trac/FalconView/discussion/

They also seem to have a mild presence on IRC (multiuser chat):

My name is Dustan Adkins, and I am associated with the Opticks project, an expandable remote sensing and imagery analysis software platform that is free and open source under the LGPL [1]. Opticks has military background and was open sourced in 2007 [2].

My interests include algorithms (especially AI-related algorithms), computer architecture, and (obviously) open source software. By being on this list, I hope to stay up to date on the latest FOSS developments from the mil-oss perspective. I also hope to make a shameless plug for Opticks from time to time.

SCL parses an EXPRESS schema and generates C, C++ or python class
libraries and a part21 file reader. STEP is best known for use as a
neutral format for mechanical CAD tools, and is used by BRL-CAD.
There are other EXPRESS schemas for Building Information Management,

Peter Arwanitis, self employed, working in Europe / Germany as a contractor for German  Bundeswehr, strictly focused on F/OSS Java ecosystem stack and Open Standards. I have a strong background as an Architect @Microsoft for the 'Enterprise Search Group' (ex FAST Search & Transfer) last responsibility was Central and East Europe.

- what are your interests

Main interest if there is something possible like a "Mil-OSS Europe" community. Learning how F/OSS is used in the rest of the world, always searching for reusable pattern and solutions.
