Hello Mifos Online Translation Tool Administrators!

My name is Riki Kurniawan. I would like to become a translator for Mifos. I am competent translating English to Indonesian (ID). I know that MFI Indonesia could use this language version of Mifos. I have visited the wiki page here:
http://mifos.org/developers/wiki/OnlineTranslationHOWTO

and read the instructions. I have registered for an account on Pootle: the Mifos Online Translation Tool. I have read, agree, and signed the Mifos contributor agreement form located here:
http://mifos.org/developers/agreement

Thank you!

Hello Riki,

Welcome to the Mifos Community.

Thanks for your interest in translating Mifos into Indonesian. Across
the country there are indeed many MFIs seeking technology and your
contributions will be a valuable addition making Mifos more accessible
to them.

I've requested that our engineers set up Indonesian in Pootle and it
should be ready to go by this upcoming week. I'll keep you posted
here on the list.

One thing I'll still need you to do is to fill out the contributor
agreement form: http://mifos.org/developers/agreement. No submitted
forms came through on my end as of yet.

I'd also be eager to know more about yourself and the role you'd like
to play in our community. I'll follow up with a separate email to
learn more.

All the best,

Edward Cable

Hi Ed, thanks for your reply. I was wondering why I didn't get any reply earlier... BTW I already submitted the contributor agreement forms as you requested just now.

I do little programming in Java so far but I'm willing to learn especially using the Struts Framework as it is one of my interest.
Right now I'm still struggling with the installation in my Ubuntu, is there any plan in making a live Linux CD that already come with everything needed to run MIFOS? If not I'll be glad to help on that part also because it will make everybody can start right the way in using and/or contributing MIFOS.

Thats it from me right now, I'm looking forward to hear when the Indonesian translation of MIFOS will be setup in Pootle, thanks.

I've suceeded with the mifos installation in my ubuntu 9.04 thanks to the documentation that stated to download the latest tomcat 6 from apache website.
Still can't figure out why the tomcat 6 package from ubuntu 9.04 repository did not work... I can't even start the daemon succesfully :(

OK... back to the translatian topic. Is there any other way I can do translation without using pootle? Can I just add and edit my own .properies files?

Thanks.

Yes.

We currently store default strings in .properties files in the
localizedResources directory in the source tree, and translated strings
in sub-directories in .po files. There's a script in the
localizedResources directory to create .po files.

Sorry we've been slow to respond to your request to create a new
language in the source tree, we should be able to get to it sometime
soon. Adding languages is not as easy as it should be, and requires a
[small] database change. Volunteers from Goldman Sachs are soon
embarking on a localization project that may simplify the process.
