I know the table, compound miter, and radial arm saws have seen a lot of use since the birth of the space. Would anyone like to add a band saw to the mid-south makers arsenal of wood working tools? For those who don't know what a band saw is, it essential does what a jig saw can do, but on a bigger scale. It's main use is to cut free hand curves in wood, but has plenty of other uses.

I have haggled a guy down to 150 bucks for a 12" craftsman band saw. This will only cut wood. Usually 12" band saws will run well over 400 new.

I have been watching way too much New Yankee Workshop and have Spring plans on making a couple of Adirondack chairs (outdoor lounge chairs) with the band saw. Would anyone have an interest in assembling Adirondack chairs for class?

Let me know your guys opinions! Or if you would like to donate to the cause!

Thanks,

I'm easily in for $20, and I still need to chip in for the beer.

12"? Is that wheel to wheel? It would about the size of a jigsaw.

12" is the distance from the blade to the back of the throat. think "diameter" instead of "wheel to wheel"

Oh, the cutting width, that's a good way to describe a band saw. I was thinking of the blade length. Thanks Walter!

Picking the band saw up between 2-3 today and dropping it off between 3-4 today. If anyone want to come out and help unload/test it out.

Hey Makers

You might get a kick out of the attached.
I ran across it, while deleting several years worth of emails over the weekend.
