Just to give everyone an update, Ben, Dan, and myself have been up at the new space working nearly everyday since we've signed the lease. We have taken down all the walls we needed to take down. We've fixed the drop ceiling in the community room. We've prepped the walls of the community room to be primed and painted. We need to put up a couple of walls and we'll be ready to start moving stuff in.

We're still waiting on the AC to be fixed (Hasn't worked since we've been there) and we're waiting on a guy to come fix the broken glass in the front door.

We are going to be up working on the new space every night this week, if you'd like to come give us a hand we would greatly appreciate it. Let us know when you plan on coming out, we don't want to get too many people in the space and not be able to get any work done.

Hoping to get our Comcast connection moved over (as well as our servers/camera setup) sometime Friday. We're just waiting on Comcast to schedule a time/date.

Also there are a few things that would great to get funded before we move in. I am reaching out to the group to help get these items funded.
1) ($130) 520 SQFT of carpet. I have talked to Mudflap from Hackers Consortium. Was able to get a great deal through him at .25 sqft. I have attached a picture.
2) ($59) Shop vac from Lowes to clean up construction waste and for the space. Lowes currently has a 6HP 16gal vac for 40% off.
3) ($40) 10 ceiling tiles. After taking down a walls, there will be a need to replace some shorter tiles with full length ones.

Tomorrow we will be hanging drywall and mudding. Hopefully by Wed. we will be painting.

Thanks!

I'll see if Kim's boss has some squirreled away that he might be willing to let go of cheap.

How soon before I can start moving the common property? We still have 4 folding tables at the old space, Chairs, books, doesn't look like anyone has begun to start working on the safe room. We have part bins boxes every where. I feel silly driving past the place and not pulling a haul.

While we are still trying to build out and alter the space in preparation for moving in, we are equally trying to maintain the ability to work in it.  If we start piling things in right now, it will do nothing but hinder the ability for us to get it done sooner.  What we've been attempting to move thus far is only what we need to do the work while avoiding crowding.  Once the major construction is out of the way (and hopefully here soon) we'll schedule a move day that, hopefully, everyone can come help haul stuff.

I'm going to blame my sheet rock and insulation addled brain, but I totally left out Claudio in this original email. He's been right there with us every day he's been able to. Claudio and I have done more dumpster runs to toss out sheet rock than we probably care to admit. He also washed out a trash can in a car wash bay. (which I'm sure was a very wtf sight to see)

So thanks to everyone that's come out and helped so far. It means a lot to the group, and it means a lot to me.

If you haven't had a chance to come out yet, don't worry. We'll be calling for as much help as we can get in the very near future.

What time do y'all usually get there? I'm available all day tomorrow if anyone is going to be there and will be up there for sure tomorrow evening.

We're usually there 6-10ish. How late we stay is completely dependent on motivation / how hot it is.

Ben can probably say for sure, but I think the only thing we're lacking in the paint department is Primer, and Paint roller trays. Maybe an extension for the rollers.

Some paint supplies are already had from previous painting endeavors, but not everything we need.

We have
  • Paint and primer (primer is still at the current space if we have it)
  • 2 paint rollers and poles
  • 3 paint roller tubes
  • 1 paint brush
We need (and please do chime in here)
  • Paint trays
  • Drop cloth?
If we want to have more people working at the same time we'll need
  • Some more brushes
  • Maybe some more rollers and tubes

Thanks,

Daniel H.

I have left the space somewhere between 11:30 and 1:30 every night that we've been up there.

If the plan is still to put carpet down, I wouldn't worry too much about drop cloths. Unless you really fail hard at painting. I'll grab some trays and an extra brush or two this evening.

You've obviously not seen how I paint then.  Much appreciated though.

I did say, "Unless you really fail hard at painting." It's okay, Joe sucks at painting too. I'll get a drop cloth or two also.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

(Tonight and Saturday afternoon are out for me, but I'm planning on
dropping by to help the rest of the next few days. I'll make sure I've
got paintin' clothes with me just in case)

I can say that we won't be painting tonight.  We've got some drywall work still to do that will be stirring up WAY too much dust.  Hopefully it'll be Thursday or Friday that we can start painting.
