When Sonny and I went to the space to look for his flashlight earlier,
I noticed two small brick raised planters in front of the house. If no
one has any objections or plans, I would like to volunteer to plant a
few plants in front of the house once it gets warmer. The goal would
be to pick a few low maintenance, drought resistant plants. I think
this would brighten up the front of the house a little.

Sounds like a great plan to me.

That'd be cool, maybe start some climbing vines to help shield the house?

Definitely agree that the area could use brightening up. I'd love to see us do some metalwork art with rebar and scrap to use as a couple of trellises in the front beds or around there, too. Maybe we can make a big "MSM" one.

Great idea Jennifer. I'd be glad to help even with my black thumb!

We need to be sure to take lots of pics.

Also, let us know what you have in mind as far as what you need too.

Soil, mulch, bulbs etc.

We could also use this as an opportunity to put in yard work kinds of tools.

Here is a suggestion - in small batches in with the plants, put a few
herbs. We may not do any cooking there, but their fragrance would be a
nice addition.

But yeah - I say go for it if there are no other objectors?

I wanted to do herbs as well as soon as I saw the box, but I wonder what has leeched into the soil from all the work in the yard and in the neighbor's yard.

I suggest we just do ornamental plants until we build some planter boxes.

I wouldn't suggest eating eating anything grown there (former industrial site) until either testing the soil or replacing the soil in and isolating the box.

No - not eating - just for fragrance.
