Effective this month, I am going to cancel my membership. Since I've been a member for some time and have long been an advocate, I thought I would explain the reasons for my departure.
1) Family - With two young sons, I have very little time to spend participating in the events of the club.
2) Distance - The new space is farther than the old one. I think that works out best for the overall membership, but its more difficult for me. What did take 30 minutes now takes an hour. This is compounded by my family obligations with two little ones that have strict schedules.
3) Convenience - The little time that I do have is usually spent working on my projects. The space does not have the appropriate equipment to begin/work on/finish the majority of my projects. With the time it takes to travel from OB, I could have just as simply worked on my project at home.
4) Direction - I'm not really happy with the direction the group is going in. Because of the cliques within the group, the games, and the lack of participation, I no longer find it engaging. It is time to turn in my keys when it starts to feel like a burden rather than something I'm excited about.
So in closing, I wish the group continued growth and success. It has been fun to be part of the group and contribute to the success that has been enjoyed thus far. I don't plan to make myself a stranger and am only an email away if you are looking for me. Thanks for being part of my journey as a maker.
