softsynth for windows thats free and will do SF2...?
|
| |
I'm hopin' this is an easy question... Lookin for a free softsynth on windows that'll load SF2. From what I can tell, SFZ is a vst that meets those requirements. But a vst needs a "host" or whatever, right? So that leads me to ask, what the heck is a host and is there a free one? How many types of software (only) midi synthesis are there?... more »

QT/RTmidi (was "Re: Hello form the PianoBooster (open source) dev guy")
|
| |
ok, folks, i've been reading more about QT. looks like it's a good choice. C#/.net/mono, although i would really like to use it, has perhaps the following problems: possible MS patent lawsuits, mono trails .net by a version or two, look and feel of gui written on PC has inadequate look and feel on OS X, i'd have to write my own midi... more »

FluidSynth VICTORY !!
|
| |
Yes! It freakin WERKS !! I got my c++ converted FluidSynth originated code to ACTUALLY work :) My test .exe is 120K (uses double reals and dang c++ startup code to handle reals) and renders 50 bars of piano to .WAV in about 15 seconds. Just gotta swap from the current 4 point interpolation to 8 and "gui-fy" it, maybe a little more optimization, aaand I'll be allll set.... more »

GuitarCheater ??
|
| |
I was just watching the science channel. Some show about future gaming interfaces or something. One thing on there was this setup where you stick a piece of cardboard with a reference square and circle on it, and play it in front of your webcam. And the app draws some 3d fingers of where your fingers are supposed to be superimposed over the image... more »
