Hi --

Can anyone direct me to a source of clear, concise information on how to
build an XML file that can be opened by Excel as a spreadsheet? I need to
build the file with the appropriate formatting requirements for the data,
presentation aspects of the spreadsheet, and hopefully a way to make the
data read-only.

Playing around with XML import features in Excel and trying to make sense of
an Excel spreadsheet saved as XML just gave me headaches ...

I have a third-party legacy app that needs to be able to output many of its
reports as XML files, almost all of them destined for Excel. The idea is for
the user to just open these XML files in Excel and get a useable spreadsheet
without spending a lot of time reformatting everything.

Thanks
CL

*lol* Don't you know that "clear, concise" and "Microsoft" contradict each
other?

Start here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Office_XML_formats
