Date change

I have Works 4.5a. Today I discovered that when I open an old letter that
has a date it was written at the top where I have always put the date. The
date is changed to the current date. One reason to keep copies is so you
can show at least to yourself when you wrote the letter. Is there a way to
show the original date.

There is probably a shortcut technique, but I think one way is to use the "Insert" menu and select Date and Time.
In the Date and Time box select the format and uncheck the Automatically Update when Printing.

When you do an Insert, Date and Time, there is a check box at the bottom that says to update
the date when printed. Uncheck that box before you complete the insert.

"printed" is misleading since the date gets updated every time you open the file.

Hi Roger,

There is no automatically recoverable way to show the ORIGINAL date,
once the file has been regenerated.

The dynamic time can be overridden as mentioned by Phideaux and Michael.

In future, a shortcut to enter a date or time ( in Works 4.x ) is to use
Ctrl + ; or Ctrl + : [ CTRL + Shift + ; ]

The input thus created is non-volatile.
