I have a document with some pages in portrait orientation
and some in Landscape orientation (Excel tables and charts
run landscape direction). I want the footers to always run
as if in portrait orientation, even on the pages that are
landscape (so that the page numbers are always in the same
place). Is there a way to do this? Is there a way to
accomplish this by 'rotating' the tables or charts onto a
portrait page rather than having to set a landscape page
for the tables?

Hi Peggy,

The rotation method is probably the easiest, if not the only way to get
all that you want. Assuming that your Excel tables and charts are not
linked, you can make them Word pictures then rotate them. To do that,
save and back up your document, then:

1. Click once on the Excel table (or chart)
2. Choose Edit/Cut
3. Choose Edit/Paste Special.....Word Picture
4. Click once on the Word picture
5. Display the Drawing Toolbar
6. On the Drawing Toolbar, choose Draw/Rotate Left

Thanks Eileen,
This seems like the easiest way. I tried what you suggested
and tried to bring in a chart as a Picture (that worked). I
used the Drawing toolbar but could not find a Draw/Rotate
option (using Word 2000). It's not on the Picture toolbar
either. On the layout, size or position tab of one of the
toolbars, there's a Rotate (_%) option but that is greyed
out and not available.

Have I missed something? THanks again.

You have to change the wrapping from "In Line With Text" to something else
before Rotate becomes available.

Using the Toolbar, Format, Layout, Advanced -- I've tried
all the other wrapping options (in front, tight, through,
etc.) -- anything BUT In Line with Text. But the Rotate
function still doesn't become available. I must be doing
something wrong.

You did use Paste Special as Picture? If that still doesn't work, see
