Hello,

I'm using Word97 in Office97. When I use Insert AutoText to insert
"Page X of Y" into a Header or Footer, the "Y" is always reset to "1"
when the document is opened after having been closed. When I first do
the insert, all is well. The total number of pages is correct. When I
close/reopen the Y becomes 1, even though the total number of pages is
correctly shown in the statistics. This behavior is consistent in all
documents.

Has anyone seen this?

Thanks Susan.

As usual, I spend an hour searching the archive for (wrong) words like
"header" and "footer" and reading all I can find to no avail. So then
I post a message looking for help, immediacy thereafter find the FAQ
and an answer, and realize that I have once again made myself look
like a fool.

Sometime I think I should just make myself look like a fool
immediately and skip the wait :-(

It happens to all of us. It's always easy to find things after you know
where to look.
