I had to reinstall my Office 07 due to a hard disk failure and now find that
the AutoText & AutoCorrect features do not work. How can I activate these? I
do have an old Windows backup file, but am unsure of the procedure for
restoring these features

PS. I did ask this question in the word|newusers group a few days ago, but
did not receive any response yet

Hi Blake

Probably a silly question, but did you back up your Normal.dot and reinstall
it on 2007?

All your autotexts are stored in your Normal.dot

Cheers
Caroline

Caroline,

I had backed up my drive before reinstalling Windows Vista & Office 2007;
from the backup, I restored the old Normal.dotm & NormalEMail.dotm files.
Then I renamed the same files that Word had created by default, so that I
was left the old set of files. However, the autotext/autocorrect entries
still do not work.

On re-opening the Templates folder I see that Word created a new (and of
course devoid of my AutoCorrect entries) Normal.dotm file, completely
ignoring the older, larger, renamed file with the same name, resident in the
same directory!

Is there something that I have missed or a better way to accomplish this
task?

Thanks

I am also having the same issue except with an upgrade from 2003 to 2007.
After install the autocorrect feature is not functioning and when I try and
activate the options are greyed out and I am not able to select them.
