By default Remote Desktop requires a password. Using TweakUI and the
information in this article you can configure the PC for auto login without
a password...

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281262/en-us

Note this is a BIG security risk. A better solution, IMHO, is to setup a
special password (use a strong password) protected account that is only used
for Remote Desktop access. You can, if you wish, hide that account from the
welcome login screen by following this procedure.

*****************************************

The welcome screen displays all of the local users on the system, except the
built-in administrator account that was created during setup. If we want to
hide a specific user from the list, we need to create a special value under
this registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Spe cialAccounts\UserList

Under this key you simply create a new DWORD value - the name matches the
users name exactly, and the value is one of the following (Decimal format)

0 - Hides the user just from the welcome screen
1 - The user is shown

*****************************************

Hi Al
Thank you very much for your reply.
i tried what you suggested ( using tweakui etc) and it worked.
i am just a little concerned that you stated that this way is a "big"
security risk'.
the other option you gave me i tried but obviously i buggered it up
somewhere, could you please tell me where i create the special password? i am
just learning all about this stuff. (sorry)
i appreciate you taking out time for me & your patience.
Also ,as my other computer is connected via ethernet switch box ,computer
reads computer B, but not visa versa can you tell me why please?

Thankyou very much again.
Kind regards

Just create an account and assign a password or assign a password to the
existing account.

Remember to add the account to the Remote Desktop Uses Group if its not an
administrator account.

I see you have been helped - I would like to make the obvious suggestion...

Put a password on your account.  Use your account username and your account
password when you remote in.

You can use TweakUI to AutoLogon when it boots up - but that will not affect
remote desktop connectivity.  You aren't real secure on the local machine
itself (all anyone needs to do it reboot to get it to logon as you
locally) - however - you get to utilize YOUR account when you remote into
the computer with your desktop/my documents/files.
