Subject: Logoff on disconnect?
Is there a registry or other setting on Windows XP Professional to have it
automatically log off users on disconnect?

As it currently stands, if a user forgets to logoff and simply closes the
Remote Desktop connection, the computer will remain locked with their
account until an administrator logs them off.

There are some group policies that you can configure to log off idle
sessions, etc.

To look at the Group Policies run gpedit.msc on the Remote Desktop host
machine and navigate to the Local Computer Policy | Computer Configuration |
Administrative Templates | Windows Components | Terminal Services | Sessions
policies.

That cannot be less than 1 minute. And it is a global setting for all users
(cannot exempt admins).

Another approach (disable disconnects on user side):

There are also, and I did not mention this because I am not real familiar
with group policies in a domain, policies that apply on a user basis no
matter what machine they happen to log onto.

To look at the Group Policies run gpedit.msc on the Remote Desktop host
machine and navigate to the Local Computer Policy | User Configuration |
Administrative Templates | Windows Components | Terminal Services | Sessions
policies.

That may be what the original poster is looking for...

Thanks for jogging my ol' memory...
