Hi there,
I've been following the previous posts regarding EFS files. For some reason,
probably my fault, i can't access my encrypted files despite having the key
on my system, (also a little forethought meant i exported the key to a zip
disk). I've tried importing the key but that doesn't work, and if i create a
new encrypted file it works fine but the thumbprint on the file is not the
same.

Does anyone have any more ideas about what i can do?

thanks
Lee

After a much sleepless night i can offer the followinf advice:
delete the existing certificate,
restore the public key portion of the certificate first,
restore the pub+priv certificate,
dont use the strong encryption option for the private certificate,
reboot machine

hope this saves people some hours

Lee

i had similar problems...and miracously a few weeks after giving up, i tried
again for fun, and it worked.

i can also suggest try deleting the other certificate that your files are
being encrypted to, leaving the real one you want to keep.

Then reboot a few times, for the certificate you deleted to really
disappear.

Maybe then you'll be able to decrypt your original files.
