Try leaving the password blank.

The password is Case Sensitive.
Check Caps Lock and try various of Capital combinations.

If you do not have a Password Recovery Disk, it is to late to make it.
Or
Log in to any account that has Administrator access.
Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel.
Select the user and change the password.

Windows XP Pro:
At the log-in screen, press Ctrl/Alt/Del twice quickly
Type "Administrator" and leave password blank.

Windows XP Home:
Reboot, tapping F8 each second.
Select Safe Mode at the menu.
Select Administrator, leave password blank.

Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel.
Select the user and change the password.
If you are using Windows XP Pro and have encrypted data, you may
permanently lose access to the encrypted data.

Another option is to install Windows XP on another partition and take
Ownership of your data.
You could also perform another installation on the same partition,
although this is not a permanent fix and it is recommended to perform
a Clean Installation after retrieving your data.

After this is resolved, take precautions to not lose the password.

I ran across somewhere you can save to a floppy disk you
administrator's password in case that you ever forget it.
I cant now locate where I saw this and would like to save
this floppy in case i should ever forget my password.
Thanks for any help locating these procedures on my
Windows XP machine.

I had to take my xp to a local software comp and for $35
they reset all my passwords to "blank". There is a way to
save this password to floppy for easy recovery but I have
forgotten where those procedures are. I have a request for
that help finding that routine on my puter.

Don't know if this is exactly what you're looking for. Click on Start>Help
and Support. Search for "create a password reset disk". Click on the link.

reset to blank because I had a brain fade. Thanks again.

go to control panel > user account > click your account
name > on the upper left corner, u will see PREVENT A
FORGOTTEN PASSWORD > click on it > follow the instruction
to create the disk.
